Heartworms

Let me tell you, they suck. I didn't realize I even had them or that I felt bad til after they were all dead and gone. Thank goodness I have such good people to take care of me at home and at the vet. After being with my new people and my most awesome wonderful girlfriend Nola for about a week (this is us playing)

I had to spend 2 nights at the vet where they shaved my sides and shot me full of something bad to take care of those pesky heartworms. When I got home I had to be confined to a very small area downstairs for an entire month. It wasn't much fun but then again, it was better than the street or the pound. Mama had to give me lots of pills which wasn't that much fun but I did ok. This is after my treatment with my shave spots.

During my confinement I discovered my most awesome wonderful girlfriend Nola's chew bones. I hadn't ever paid them any attention despite the fact that she chews on them all the time. Once I tried it I realized I liked it and that didn't seem to make her very happy but that's ok, I love her no matter how much she growls at me or kicks my ass (she does that sometimes).
I survived my month of confinement as did Mama and Daddy and got the all clear from my doctor. I was ready to go take these things they call walks.

My name is Chester.

Hi there, my name is Chester. My mama thought I should blog about myself and what she calls my craziness. I'm not really sure what she means by crazy but whatever.
So here goes.
I don't remember much from my life before moving in with Mama and Daddy and my awesome most wonderful girlfriend Nola. I was at the pound when they found me. Not the Humane Society, the Pound Pound. And let me tell you it was pretty rough for a little guy like me. Even though I'm pretty small (about 13 pounds) they put me in with the adult dogs and some were really big and loud and scary.
My mama tells the story of showing Daddy a picture of me on the internet and he thought I was pretty pathetic looking and didn't think he'd want anything to do with me. But then he saw me in person and told Mama "I like Chester" in this really sad pathetic voice.
Turns out I had heartworms so it took a bit of doing to get me to their home (had to get rescued by a group, spend one night with this weird lady that had lots of dogs) but they decided I was worth (we'll see).
I was a bit of a crazy mess when I first got to my new home. There was a lot of places to mark and my new favorite awesome wonderful girlfriend Nola to hump. And they put me in a crate to sleep at night, didn't like that much at all.
After taking me to the vet it was determined my heartworms were treatable in the best case scenario and I needed to get "fixed" whatever that means. So after a week of Mama shoving antibiotic pills down my throat I went to the vet and dangit, they took my balls from me! It was rough at first but I started to actually feel a little better, didn't feel like I had to pee in the house everywhere and although I still love my most wonderful awesome girlfriend Nola, I can control my urges with her much better.
That was my first week, lots happening for a little guy like me.
Here's what I looked like way back then when they first met me.
